MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE

About

MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE belongs to a group of NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) medicines used to provide relief from abdominal cramps caused before and during the menstrual cycle. Abdominal cramps are throbbing pains in the lower abdomen due to the menstrual cycle every month in females. In some females, the pain and discomfort caused due to menstruation are so severe that they have to take some medicine to lower the pain intensity.

MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE is a combination drug that contains 'mefenamic acid' and 'Tizanidine.' Mefenamic acid works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in your body, known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, that make another chemical, 'prostaglandins' (PG) which are responsible for causing pain. Tizanidine works on the centres of the spinal cord and brain. This helps relax the intestine or stomach muscles and stops muscle contractions. Collectively, both of them help to relieve pain, bloating, cramps, and discomfort caused.

Take MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE as prescribed. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you. In some cases, you may experience common side effects, such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion, weakness, dry mouth, and indigestion. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Please inform your doctor if you are allergic to MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE or other medicines. MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE can increase the risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach and intestines. Do not take MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive with caution. MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol and MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE as it could lead to increased drowsiness and dizziness; it might also increase stomach bleeding risk. Do not take other painkillers with MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE unless prescribed by the doctor. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Medicinal Benefits

MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE is a combination drug that contains 'mefenamic acid' and 'Tizanidine.' Mefenamic acid belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug), used to relieve mild to moderate pain associated with period pain, symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and management of excessively heavy periods. MEFENAMIC ACID+TIZANIDINE works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in your body, known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes that make another chemical, 'prostaglandins' (PG). These prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the COX enzymes' effect, lesser PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site. Tizanidine works in the centres of the spinal cord and brain. This helps relax the intestine or stomach muscles and stops muscle contractions. Collectively, both of them help to relieve pain, bloating, cramps, and discomfort caused.
